Your lawn care takes up a lot of the time you spend caring for your outdoor spaces. And flowerbeds take up much of the attention with their flashy colors. At Mowing R Us, we love taking care of your lawns and flowerbeds set up and regular maintenance needs.
But there’s another piece of lawn maintenance that is at least as important as mowing and planting that doesn’t get as much attention, especially in Texas, and that’s seasonal cleanup. Our seasons here aren’t quite what they have in the east, so we don’t have the same sort of significant fall cleanup that they do. But that doesn’t mean we don’t need to handle seasonal changes with care.
Each season brings its changes, and every fall and Spring, we take the time to prep your land for the coming season. So what does it matter? And what does it involve?
We led with the importance of Spring Cleanup, but what makes it matter so much? Well, the primary reasons for property cleanup are the same as those for the rest of your lawn care tasks: health and beauty.
Spring Cleanup Tasks
Spring cleanup is the collection of tasks we do every Spring at the beginning of the season to prepare your land for the coming growing season. Our winters are mild, but the temperature difference is still there, so we take the opportunity now to handle the property cleanup you need once or twice a year.
Debris Collection
Plants shed. They are in a never-ending growth cycle of sprouting, blooming, and dying. Much like humans lose dead skin cells that become the dust that will eventually make a mess in your home, plant shedding will make a mess of your yard. In addition to the regular life cycles of plants, anytime we have storms or strong winds, plants lose additional pieces. For example, we’ve all seen twigs covering our lawn after a big storm! So we collect these leaves, petals, and branches no longer attached to the plants they once were part of.Collect Dead Plants
Sometimes whole plants die. In the case of annuals, that’s expected since they only last a season. But unexpected weather and human and animal intervention can give perennials untimely deaths too. There’s no reason to leave these plants in your flowerbeds. So we take the time during seasonal cleanup to pull them to make room for new life.Pruning
Healthy perennials need a little help to stay healthy. Part of Spring Cleanup is pruning off the dead, diseased, or dying parts. All your flowers that last more than one season will need occasional pruning.Re-Mulch
Just like your plants needs yearly replacement, so does your mulch. We value organic mulch for its ability to feed our plants as it deteriorates, but that breakdown also requires us to touch it up each Spring. We’ll check your mulch levels during cleanup and add mulch wherever it’s needed. Why Does It Matter?
